The Royal Alexandra Theatre, opened in 1907, is often cited as the oldest continuously operating legitimate theatre in North America. The roughly 1,500-seat Edwardian house on King Street West was saved from demolition by Ed Mirvish in 1963 and remains the flagship of Mirvish Productions, presenting major plays and musicals.
