The Howard Theatre opened in 1910 in DC's Shaw neighborhood and was a cornerstone of the city's 'Black Broadway,' hosting Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Marvin Gaye across its history. After decades of decline it was restored and reopened in 2012. Today it presents concerts, comedy, and its long-running gospel brunch.
